Cliffhangers(1979)

Cliffhangers is an American drama series that premiered on NBC on February 27, 1979, reviving the classic movie serial format for television. Each hour-long episode contained three separate 20-minute segments: Stop Susan Williams, The Secret Empire, and The Curse of Dracula. To enhance the sense of ongoing adventure, all three serials began at different chapter numbers—Chapter II, III, and VI respectively—despite being their first broadcasts, creating the impression that viewers were joining stories already in progress. The ambitious anthology series struggled to find an audience and was canceled after just ten episodes due to low ratings, ending its attempt to bring vintage serial storytelling to prime time.
