Yamaonna Nikki(2016)

Yamaonna Nikki is a Japanese series following Tachibana Yuzuki, a 40-year-old who launches a new career as a mountain climbing guide. On her first solo expedition up Mount Myoko and Mount Hiuchi, she leads three first-time climbers: Yumi and Ritsuko, who work in retail, and Mitsuko, a welfare facility employee. Each woman carries her own struggles and reasons for attempting the climb. As they navigate the mountains, Yuzuki finds herself guided by Kijima, her younger but more experienced senior colleague. The series explores how these ordinary women confront both the physical challenges of mountaineering and the personal obstacles they've brought with them. Adapted from Minato Kanae's novel, the show blends outdoor adventure with intimate character study, capturing moments of vulnerability and resilience against Japan's dramatic alpine landscape.
