Rideau Hall(2002)

Rideau Hall is a Canadian comedy series following Regina Gallant, a brash disco queen and one-hit wonder thrust into the role of Governor General. A scheming Prime Minister appoints her expecting she'll embarrass the office and help him abolish both the position and the monarchy. But Regina's loud, irreverent charm and common touch win over the public despite her unsuitability for formal duties. Each episode lands her in a scandal—rarely of her own making—that somehow resolves in her favour by the end. The series mines comedy from the clash between Regina's earthy personality and the staid traditions of Canada's highest ceremonial office.
