Quark(1977)

Quark is a 1978 science fiction sitcom created by Buck Henry that aired briefly on NBC. Set in 2226, the series follows Adam Quark, captain of a United Galaxy Sanitation Patrol Cruiser—essentially an interstellar garbage scow—as he and his eccentric crew collect cosmic waste across the galaxy. The show's sharp satirical edge targets beloved sci-fi classics like Star Wars, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and Flash Gordon, with three episodes directly spoofing Star Trek. Richard Benjamin stars as the resourceful Quark, navigating absurd space-age scenarios with deadpan humor. Though cancelled after just one season, the series earned an Emmy nomination for costume design and has since developed a cult following among sci-fi comedy fans.
