Newstopia(2009)

Newstopia is an Australian satirical comedy series hosted by Shaun Micallef that aired on SBS TV from 2007 to 2008. The half-hour program launched in October 2007 and ran for three seasons, blending sharp political humor with absurdist sketches to skewer current events and media culture. Developed by Micallef alongside Gary McCaffrie, Michael Ward and Jason Stephens, the show featured a rotating cast of comedians including Matt Cameron, Doug MacLeod, Dave O'Neil, Tony Moclair and Richard Marsland. Each episode delivered rapid-fire segments and satirical commentary on the week's news, establishing Newstopia as a standout entry in Australian comedy television. Though a fourth season was planned for 2009, production conflicts with another Micallef project led to its cancellation.
