Phat Tuesdays: The Era of Hip Hop Comedy is a docuseries that chronicles how comedian Guy Torry created an all-Black comedy night at The Comedy Store in 1990s Los Angeles. What began as a bold experiment became a launchpad for some of today's biggest comedians, giving Black performers a dedicated platform during a pivotal era for hip-hop culture. Through interviews with Anthony Anderson, Tiffany Haddish, Steve Harvey, Regina King and others who performed there, the series documents how Phat Tuesdays elevated Black voices in comedy and shaped the landscape of stand-up performance. The docuseries celebrates the venue's legacy as a breeding ground for talent and a cultural milestone in entertainment history.
