Ramayan is an Indian television series that draws from multiple classical adaptations of the ancient epic, including Valmiki's original text, Tulsidas's Ramcharitmanas, and regional versions in Tamil, Kannada, and Odia. Produced by Sagar Arts for NDTV Imagine, the show is a remake of Ramanand Sagar's landmark 1987–1988 Doordarshan series that captivated audiences across India. This version retells the timeless story of Lord Rama's journey, duty, and triumph over adversity with renewed production values. The series earned critical recognition early on, winning Most Promising New Show of the Year at Indiantelevision.com's New Talent Awards, while lead actor Gurmeet Choudhary received the Most Promising New Talent of Tomorrow award for his portrayal of Rama.
