The Dame Edna Experience(1987)

The Dame Edna Experience is a British comedy talk show hosted by the irreverent Dame Edna Everage. Airing on ITV between 1987 and 1989, the series ran for twelve episodes plus two Christmas specials, directed by Ian Hamilton and Alasdair MacMillan and produced by London Weekend Television. Each episode featured up to eight celebrity guests who faced Dame Edna's sharp wit and unpredictable pranks—some "guests" like Kurt Waldheim and Imelda Marcos were famously trapped by stage trapdoors before reaching their seats. Regulars included Dame Edna's bridesmaid Madge Allsop, announcer Robin Houston, and conductor Laurie Holloway. The complete series was released on DVD by BBC Video in 2004 and later by Network DVD in 2007 as a four-disc Region 2 set, offering a snapshot of British television comedy from the late 1980s.
