The Perils of Penelope Pitstop is an animated series that spun off from Wacky Races, following the damsel-in-distress adventures of Penelope Pitstop and her unlikely protectors, the Anthill Mob. Produced by Hanna-Barbera, the show premiered on CBS in September 1969 and ran for two seasons with 17 half-hour episodes. Each installment finds the perpetually imperiled Penelope caught in outlandish predicaments while the five diminutive gangsters race to her rescue. The series balances slapstick comedy with genuine peril, capturing the playful spirit of 1960s Saturday morning cartoons. Though its original run ended in early 1970, The Perils of Penelope Pitstop remains a nostalgic favorite, with reruns continuing to air on Boomerang.
