Life Unexpected is a coming-of-age drama following Lux, a 16-year-old girl who has spent her entire life in foster care after being given up for adoption at birth. When she's placed in the custody of her biological parents—Cate and Baze, who haven't spoken since high school—the three are forced to navigate an unexpected family dynamic. Cate is a successful radio host struggling to balance her career ambitions with newfound motherhood, while Baze runs a garage and grapples with his own demons. As Lux adjusts to living with strangers who happen to be her parents, the series explores themes of identity, belonging, and second chances. The unlikely trio must learn to trust each other and build the family bond they never had, all while dealing with typical teenage drama and adult complications that threaten to tear them apart.
