Flamingo Road is an American prime time soap opera that premiered as a TV movie on NBC in May 1980, followed by a full series run beginning in January 1981. Based on the 1949 film starring Joan Crawford, which itself adapted Robert Wilder's novel, the show was designed to compete with CBS's Dallas and Knots Landing during the height of the nighttime drama boom.
