OTHELLO(2022)

Othello is a Japanese series following ENGINE, a small theatre troupe rehearsing in a rundown Osaka building near Tsutenkaku Tower. As they prepare to stage DICE—their most celebrated work, first performed a decade ago—in Tokyo, leader Shigemori grows increasingly critical of the cast, including lead actress Yamaguchi Mai. Exhausted and under pressure, Mai discovers an old VHS tape of the original DICE rehearsals in the company archives. After watching the footage, the troupe members begin experiencing strange, unexplainable phenomena. What starts as artistic ambition transforms into something far more unsettling as the line between past and present blurs, and the troupe must confront forces they cannot control.
