Atsuhime(2008)

Atsuhime is a historical drama series following the remarkable life of Princess Atsu, born in Satsuma during Japan's Edo period. Married to Tokugawa Iesada, the 13th shogun, Atsu rises to the highest rank within Ooku, the exclusive inner palace of Edo Castle. When Iesada dies shortly after their marriage, the young widow assumes the name Tenshoin and becomes a powerful political force. Facing the turbulent transition toward the Meiji Restoration, Tenshoin dedicates herself to protecting the Tokugawa clan and navigating Japan's transformation. The 47th NHK Taiga Drama chronicles her journey from provincial princess to influential court figure during one of Japan's most pivotal historical periods.
