Elpis(2022)

Elpis is a Japanese drama series inspired by true cases of wrongful conviction. Ena Asakawa, a former network anchor whose career derailed after scandal, now hosts a late-night magazine show. When rookie director Takuro Kishimoto grows suspicious of a death row conviction, he partners with Asakawa, make-up artist Cherry, and star reporter Shouichi Saito to investigate. Their probe uncovers a statewide conspiracy and cover-up that reaches far beyond the original case. The series examines the fragility of justice and the courage required to challenge institutional power, following four outsiders as they risk everything to expose the truth and free an innocent person.
