Piste noire is a French crime drama set in the Alpine region where a caravan fire kills a seasonal worker, igniting a murder investigation. Emilie Karras, a young gendarme from Lyon returning to her hometown of Les Clairies, takes the lead on the case. She must work alongside Major Servoz, a cynical local officer worn down by years of small-town policing. As the two clash over methods and motives, they uncover secrets buried deep within their isolated community. The series explores themes of corruption, class conflict, and the dark underbelly of rural France's transient workforce.
