Het Nieuwe Land(2024)

Het Nieuwe Land is a documentary series that follows actor Huub Stapel and writer Eva Vriend as they journey to the Andijk test polder, where Dutch land reclamation history began. Stapel meets the descendants of pioneering families who arrived in the Wieringermeerpolder at the turn of the twentieth century, driven by the dream of colonizing newly claimed land. The series explores the remarkable engineering feat of creating habitable territory from the sea, while examining the personal stories and legacies of those early settlers. Through interviews and historical exploration, Het Nieuwe Land reveals how ambition, innovation, and determination transformed the Dutch landscape and shaped the lives of generations who built communities in these reclaimed polders.
