Kinagashi Bugyō(1981)

Kinagashi Bugyō is a Japanese period drama following Koheita, a newly appointed magistrate who abandons his official duties to operate from the Horisoto, a lawless underground den rife with theft, prostitution, and murder. Rather than enforce order from his magistrate's office, Koheita uses his position and connections within this criminal underworld to clean up the city through unconventional means. The series blends traditional samurai storytelling with a gritty exploration of corruption and justice, as Koheita navigates between the legitimate government structure and the shadowy criminal networks that truly control the streets.
