The World of Wooster(1965)

The World of Wooster is a British comedy series that aired on BBC One from 1965 to 1967, adapting P.G. Wodehouse's beloved Jeeves stories. Ian Carmichael stars as the hapless upper-class Bertie Wooster, with Dennis Price as his brilliant manservant Jeeves, whose quick wit and cunning schemes repeatedly rescue his employer from social disasters. The show captures the farcical charm of Wodehouse's original tales, following the pair through a succession of comic misadventures in 1920s England. Though Wodehouse later felt Carmichael occasionally overacted, he praised Price's portrayal of Jeeves as the finest interpretation he'd witnessed. Sadly, like many programmes from that era, most episodes were erased from the BBC archives. Only two episodes survive today, making The World of Wooster one of television's most sought-after lost series.
