The Big Gig

The Big Gig is an Australian comedy series that aired on ABC from 1989 to 1992, originally titled Tuesday Night Live. Based on the British format Saturday Live, the show was produced and directed by Ted Robinson and Neil Wilson, drawing talent from Melbourne's vibrant stand-up comedy scene. The series launched the careers of several comedians, most notably host Wendy Harmer, who went on to become a major radio personality in Sydney, and the regularly featured act The Doug Anthony All-Stars. The Big Gig became a platform for emerging Australian comedy talent during a pivotal era for the country's live performance culture.
