Petite Casbah(2024)

Petite Casbah is a drama series set in Algiers during June 1955, following Khadidja, a young woman who has just arrived from Kabylie to stay with her older brother Malek. On her first day in the city, while waiting to enroll in school, Khadidja joins Malek at his fruit and vegetable stall in the market. When a confrontation with police results in Malek's sudden arrest, Khadidja is left to fend for herself in unfamiliar territory. The series explores her struggle for survival and independence in a pivotal moment of Algerian history, as she navigates the complexities of urban life and family obligation amid colonial-era tensions.
