Shabake is a Japanese supernatural mystery series following Ichitaro, a reclusive yet perceptive master of Nagasakiya who possesses the rare ability to see spirits. Protected by ghostly companions including Hakutaku and Inugami, Ichitaro leads a sheltered life within his estate. When he ventures out one night and witnesses a brutal murder, a wave of gruesome killings sweeps through Edo. As the city descends into terror, Ichitaro must harness his spiritual gifts and otherworldly allies to identify the killer before more blood is spilled. The series blends historical Edo-period setting with supernatural horror and detective intrigue, exploring themes of isolation, hidden power, and the thin boundary between the living and spirit worlds.
