Ticaret is a documentary series about Paris's groundbreaking hip-hop store of the 1980s. Founded by Daniel Fourneuf, an electrician and dance enthusiast, and Françoise Hautot, a model and fashion designer, the shop became Europe's first concept store dedicated to hip-hop culture. Operating as laboratory, meeting place, and myth factory, Ticaret imported clothing, accessories, and records directly from the United States. A basement recording studio and back-room screen-printing operation—staffed by celebrated graffiti artists—made the store a creative hub unlike anything else in France at the time. The series chronicles how this unlikely duo shaped the continent's hip-hop aesthetic and built a cultural landmark that defined an era.
