Der rote Vogel is a German drama following Sarah Maienstedt, a nineteen-year-old fresh from convent school, as her world unravels in Stockholm. Sarah has fallen for Erik Wylander, a charming Swede—unaware he's already her mother Inge's lover. When both women travel to the Swedish capital, their separate desires collide dangerously. Inge seeks clarity about her crumbling marriage while Sarah yearns to be near Erik. The tension explodes when Inge asks Erik to look after her daughter, and he confesses his feelings, forcing all three into an impossible situation.
