Box of Goblins(2008)

Box of Goblins is a Japanese series set in 1952 that follows a string of brutal crimes across Musashino and Mitaka. When 14-year-old Kanako Yuzuki survives an attempted murder, she's abducted from the hospital where she's recovering. Other girls vanish next, their severed limbs discovered in custom boxes scattered throughout nearby towns. News editor Morihiko Toriguchi and crime writer Tatsumi Sekiguchi team up to solve the case, joined by onmyōji Akihiko Chūzenji, a practitioner of traditional Japanese occult arts. As the investigation deepens across two months of autumn, the trio uncovers a mystery that blends crime, supernatural elements, and postwar Japan's darker underbelly. The series weaves historical detail with psychological tension as the investigators race to stop the killer before more victims fall.
