Hunter is an American police drama that aired on NBC from 1984 to 1991, following Sgt. Rick Hunter, a tough, rule-breaking homicide detective with the Los Angeles Police Department. Fred Dryer stars as the wily and physically imposing Hunter, who partners with Sgt. Dee Dee McCall, played by Stepfanie Kramer, to solve cases across Los Angeles. The pair often resort to lethal force to close their investigations. Kramer departed after season six to pursue other acting and music opportunities, and Hunter worked with different female officers in the final season. Stephen J. Cannell's production company developed the series, which became a defining cop drama of the 1980s.
