Löwengrube(1989)
Löwengrube is a German television series that aired from 1989 to 1992, following two generations of Munich police officers across nearly six decades. Ludwig Grandauer and his son Karl navigate their careers from 1897 to 1954, their lives intertwined with the city's turbulent history. Created by Willy Purucker and directed by Rainer Wolffhardt, the series adapts Purucker's earlier radio play, tracing how personal ambitions and family duty collide against the backdrop of a changing Germany. The title references the Munich Police Headquarters, established in 1913 in the Löwengrube district. This ambitious period drama captures the complexities of law enforcement across two world wars and the social upheaval that defined twentieth-century Bavaria.
