Garo: Crimson Moon is an anime series set in Heian-kyō, Japan's elegant aristocratic capital, where a spiritual force field supposedly protects the city. In truth, court magi can only defend the palace in the north; downtown streets fall into darkness after sunset, where soul-devouring monsters called "horrors" hunt freely. A group of heroes emerges from the shadows to protect ordinary citizens from these creatures, fighting a hidden war beneath the city's refined veneer. The series blends historical fantasy with dark supernatural action, exploring the gap between the capital's polished appearance and the monsters lurking in its forgotten corners.
