Hwang Jin Yi is a Korean historical drama following the life of an illegitimate noblewoman born to a renowned gisaeng musician. A gifted dancer in her own right, Hwang Jin Yi navigates a complex web of romantic entanglements across four men who shape her destiny. Her first love with nobleman's son Kim Eun Ho ends tragically, while her affair with Kim Jung Han offers no happier resolution. The Emperor's relative Byuk Kye Soo pursues her relentlessly but cannot win her heart. Only her devoted bodyguard Yi Saeng remains steadfastly loyal through her struggles. As Hwang Jin Yi rises as an artist, she faces fierce competition from Bu Yong, a rival dancer who also contests for the same men's affections. The series explores ambition, forbidden love, and survival in a rigid social hierarchy.
