A Life(2017)

A Life is a Japanese drama series following Okita Kazuaki, a skilled surgeon who returns to his hometown hospital after a decade abroad. Forced to resign years earlier by his best friend Masao, Okita comes back to save his former teacher—the father of his ex-girlfriend Mifuyu, who is now married to Masao. Caught between past betrayals, lingering feelings, and professional ambition, Okita must navigate a minefield of jealousy and pride while proving his worth as a doctor. Though socially awkward, he treats every patient with genuine compassion, gradually inspiring his colleagues to reconsider what healthcare truly means. The series explores themes of redemption, love, and integrity as Okita confronts the man who destroyed his career and fights to reclaim his place.
