Vida(2018)
Vida is a drama series following two estranged Mexican-American sisters forced to return to their East Los Angeles neighborhood after their mother's death. Lyn, a successful businesswoman, and Emma, a queer activist, couldn't be more different. Returning to the old barrio, they inherit their mother's boarded-up bar and confront painful family secrets that challenge everything they thought they knew about her. As they navigate their complicated relationship with each other and their community, the sisters uncover truths about their mother's past that reshape their understanding of identity, belonging, and what home really means. The series explores themes of family, queerness, and cultural heritage against the backdrop of gentrification threatening their neighborhood.
