Satomi Hakkenden is an anime series following eight samurai brothers bound by loyalty, family honor, and martial code. Based on Kyokutei Bakin's sprawling 19th-century novel—a 106-volume epic composed over three decades—the story weaves together themes of bushido, Confucianism, and Buddhist philosophy. Bakin completed much of the work despite going blind, dictating final sections to his daughter-in-law Michi.
