Evil's Wave(2019)

Evil's Wave is a Japanese crime series set in 2014 Kawasaki City, where a string of murders targeting women shocks the community. Dubbed the "Hanging Murders," the killings baffle police until Detective Iguchi suspects a man named Naoya Nogi, who kills for pleasure. Nogi is actually Masato Yaginuma, a survivor of the infamous Akishima mother-and-son kidnapping case, living under a false identity while evading detection. As he draws his neighbor Yoshika into his dangerous world to escape the police net, hidden truths begin to surface. The series explores the psychological depths of a man shaped by trauma, asking whether his crimes stem from calculated evil or something far more complex. Tension mounts as the investigation closes in and Yaginuma's carefully constructed life unravels.
