The Johnny Cash Show(1969)

The Johnny Cash Show is an American television music variety series that aired on ABC from June 1969 to March 1971. Hosted by and centered around Johnny Cash, the 58-episode program was taped live at the legendary Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee. Cash opened each episode and performed alongside his touring band, including June Carter Cash, the Carter Family, the Statler Brothers, and Carl Perkins. The show became a platform for country and folk music's biggest names—Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Linda Ronstadt, Kris Kristofferson, Neil Young, Merle Haggard, and James Taylor all appeared. The Statler Brothers provided comic relief between musical segments. The Johnny Cash Show reached number 17 in Nielsen ratings during 1970 and showcased the breadth of Cash's musical interests, even welcoming jazz legend Louis Armstrong to perform.
