Outbreak Company is a fantasy anime series that follows Shinichi Kanou, an otaku expert who is unexpectedly dispatched as a cultural ambassador to the Holy Eldant Empire, a magical alternate world. What begins as a straightforward assignment quickly transforms into an unpredictable adventure as Shinichi navigates a realm populated by elves, dwarves, and other fantastical beings. Armed with nothing but his encyclopedic knowledge of anime, manga, and Japanese pop culture, he must introduce otaku culture to a civilization that has never encountered it before. The series blends comedy with fish-out-of-water charm as Shinichi attempts to bridge two vastly different worlds. His mission becomes increasingly complex as he discovers that spreading Japanese culture may have far-reaching political and social consequences in this fantasy land.
