Round the Bend(1988)

Round the Bend is a satirical British children's series that aired on Children's ITV from 1989 to 1991. Created by the team behind the comic Oink!, the show parodies Saturday morning magazine formats—but sets the action in a sewer. A host introduces cartoons, music videos and news segments with anarchic humour reminiscent of Viz magazine. The puppets were crafted by the Spitting Image team, while animation came from Aardman Animations and Catalyst Pictures. Patrick Gallagher designed the puppets, characters and sets alongside creating the show's graphics. The title references a toilet U-bend; the opening sequence famously flushes the camera down a toilet into the sewer setting. Round the Bend was a Hat Trick production for Yorkshire Television and earned an RTS Award nomination. The series later repeated on Channel 4, The Children's Channel and Nickelodeon UK.
