Samber(2023)

Samber is a French crime series set in late 1980s Northern France, where a serial predator attacks women along the same road near the Samber river. The assaults follow a consistent pattern, striking in early mornings, yet local police struggle to connect the cases or grasp their scale. The justice system becomes overwhelmed as incidents pile up. For three decades, the attacker evades capture, continuing his assault on women throughout that period. The series chronicles the investigation that finally leads to his arrest and the revelation that he is responsible for at least 54 documented cases of rape and sexual assault. Samber examines the systemic failures that allowed one man to prey on women for so long, and the eventual reckoning that followed.
