SANDA(2025)

SANDA is a Japanese series set in a near-future where plummeting birthrates have made children precious and heavily surveilled. Santa has been outlawed as a threat to state control. When middle-schooler Kazushige Sanda—a descendant of the legendary gift-giver—is cornered by classmate Fuyumura, she demands he use his heritage to find her missing friend Ono. Moved by her plea, Sanda accepts his role and becomes Santa, adopting the mantle to protect children from the adults who would exploit them. The series blends sci-fi worldbuilding with coming-of-age drama as Sanda navigates a society that fears childhood wonder, armed only with the spirit of generosity and rebellion.
